Storm & Roof Leak Water Damage

When wind lifts shingles or an ice dam drives meltwater under the roof, the water shows up as a stained ceiling — usually well after the storm. By then it has been in the attic insulation and wall cavities for days.

Storm & Roof Leak Water Damage — the problem we remediate

The problem

Dry the Assembly, Not Just the Stain

A ceiling stain is the exit point, not the extent. We open, inspect, and dry the attic sheathing, insulation, and wall cavities the water actually reached, then verify the readings before anything is closed up.

The approach

Stop the Source First

Drying is pointless while water is still coming in. We help get the roof breach tarped or repaired first, then handle the interior — and flag the ice-dam or flashing issue that caused it.

  1. The source. A burst supply line or failed fixture releases water upstairs.
  2. Water travels down. It runs down through ceilings and inside walls, soaking framing.
  3. Pools below. What isn’t dried collects in the basement and feeds mold.
Water travels down. The leak is on one floor — the damage is on every floor below it, which is why we map the moisture, not just the wet spot.

How it works

A Documented Process, First Look to Verified Result.

  1. 01 Assessment & Moisture Mapping Moisture meters and thermal imaging find the full reach of the water.
  2. 02 Water Extraction Standing water removed fast with truck-mounted and portable units.
  3. 03 Structural Drying Air movers and commercial dehumidifiers dry framing, subfloor, and drywall.
  4. 04 Moisture Verification Daily readings until materials reach a documented dry standard.
  5. 05 Repairs & Restoration Replace what can’t be saved and return the space to normal.

Common questions

Before You Call, the Honest Answers.

The ceiling is stained but not dripping — is it still a problem?

Usually yes. A stain means water got into the assembly above; even if it’s not dripping now, the insulation and framing may still be wet and starting to grow mold. It’s worth checking.

Do you do the roof repair too?

We focus on the water damage and mitigation, and coordinate emergency tarping or board-up. Permanent roof repair is done in step with a roofer so the interior work lasts.

Will this turn into attic mold?

It can, if the attic stays wet — which is exactly why we dry the assembly and address the ice-dam or leak source rather than just repainting the ceiling.
